Our latest Bite Size Plays production, 'And The Winner Is...' featured four award-winning short comedies written by Tony Domaille,  at The Swan Thornbury,  Grace Lodge, Thornbury, and Oldbury Memorial Hall.

'My Hero' - A super-hero couple's marriage  is on the rocks.

'When All Around You' - A medieval executioner is very keen on customer service

'House Hunting' - A famous vampire visits at Estate Agent.

 'Apocalypse Then?'- The end of the world is not going to plan.

ALL THREE VENUES SOLD OUT WITH GREAT REVIEWS -

We opened the Bristol One Act Festival 27th February 2025 at The Olympus Theatre,  Bristol. BS34 8LP with Tony Domaille's brand new drama 'I Know a Place' featuring Alex Nixon, Phil Domaille, Sarah Cully Morgan and Sarah Wiggins. 

 'This was a beautifully chilling opening to our festival. You kept us on tenterhooks as the the story unfolded and ticked by. Would Lucy be found dead or alive? This was an extremely competent piece of theatre, very nicely directed and presented by this talented group. (Jan Palmer Sayer - GoDA)

Nominations -

Best Décor, Best Actor – Phil Domaille as Dr Vincent; Alex Nixon as Damien Curtis, Best Director - Ella Dimapo

Award -

Best Supporting Actress – Sarah Wiggins as Lucy 

Then we appeared on the opening night of the Avon Short Play Festival on 6th March at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall. That performance collected more nominations and awards  -

Nominations - 

Phil Domaille Best Supporting Actor and Sarah Wiggins Best Actress.

Awards -

Best Technical, Peter Minshall. Best Director, Ella Dimapo, Best Original Script, Tony Domaille, Best Actor. Alex Nixon, Best Play, JTP Theatre.

We went on to represent  Avon in the Regional Final at the Merlin Theatre, Frome on 17 May where we were delighted by audience and adjudicator reactions to the play.

A radio version of the play also featured on Thornbury Radio in May, completing a successful run.

RADIO 

Our short plays and monologues feature on Thornbury Radio, every Tuesday evening between 7 and 8pm. We can also be found from time to time on BBC Radio Bristol, Somerset, Gloucester and Wiltshire.

July on Thornbury Radio

Tune in to Thornbury Radio from 7pm on Tuesday evenings to listen to one of our many Bite Size radio plays, or monologues.

July is Guest Writers Month on the Journeyman Hour. JTP Theatre take a break some weeks, while providing the talented casts in others.

1st July – Jonathan Edgington delivers his own clever monologue, entitled ‘Thanks, Mum (and Thomas Hardy)'.

8th July – JTP Theatre’s Mandy Aldridge and Pete James feature in Jay Cundall-Walker’s light comedy ‘Slimmer’s Planet’. 

15th July – Jamie McLeish’s ‘Blind Date’ has a couple in an awkward situation, featuring JTP Theatre’s Catherine Hamilton and Phil Domaille

22nd July – ‘Spilt Milk’. Local writer Hilary Smith delivers her own short story from her ‘The Trouble with Paul’ series.

29th July – Claire Jaggard’s touching monologue ‘Learning to Fly’ is performed by JTP Theatre’s Lynne Cartlidge.
